About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Occupational Health and Safety Manager to join our team at PAR EXCELLANCE in Germiston, Gauteng. As a seasoned professional with a strong background in food safety and production, you will be responsible for ensuring the overall health and well-being of our employees, while also promoting a culture of safety in our factory environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement SHE/EMS systems, guidelines, objectives, and practices to ensure legal compliance and risk reduction.
- Conduct incident investigations, audits, and risk assessments to identify areas for improvement.
- Lead the performance of junior management, safety reps, and stakeholders, and coordinate with Production, Engineering, HR, Quality, and Food Safety teams to integrate EMS/OH&S into daily operations.
- Plan and conduct internal/external audits, inspections, and incident response efforts, including leading incident/accident/near-miss investigations and ensuring prompt implementation of CA/PA.
- Maintain risk registers, drive the implementation of control measures, and oversee emergency preparedness, fire evacuation, refrigerant leaks, medical emergencies, and first responder arrangements.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in large labour-intensive, shift-based food/FMCG factory environments.
- Strong knowledge of OHS Act/Regulations/COIDA/Nat Environ Mngt Act/NEMA/ISO 45001/risk assessment/incident investigation/audits.
- Proven experience with risk assessments, HIRA/ERA/task-based/JSA/JHA and maintenance of risk registers.
Qualifications
- ND/B Tech/B Sc Safety Mngt/Environ Health (NQF 67).
- OH&S qual/SAMTRAC/NEBOSH/Environ Mngt.
- 57+ years of food safety experience in large labour-intensive, shift-based food/FMCG factory environments.
