Experienced Sales Person – 6-Axis Industrial Robots (Catalogue Sales) OPEN TO ALL SUTIABLE CANDIDATES Location: Johannesburg (or specify region) Department: Sales & Business Development Reports To: Sales Manager / General Manager Employment Type: Permanent Industry: Industrial Automation, Robotics, Engineering Solutions Products: 6-Axis Industrial Robots (Catalogue-Based), End-E ectors, Tooling, Automation Accessories 1.Salary & Compensation Framework • Basic salary (market-related based on experience). /- R35000 to R50000 • Car allowance / company vehicle. • Fuel card, tools of trade (laptop, phone). • Commission / performance bonus. • Pension, medical aid, and other company benefits 2.Role Purpose The Experienced Sales Person will be responsible for driving direct sales of 6-axis industrial robots and associated automation products from the standard catalogue range. The role focuses on generating new business, managing key accounts, presenting robotic solutions, and supporting clients with technical product selection. This position requires a strong blend of commercial acumen, technical understanding, and customer-facing expertise within industrial automation, robotics, or advanced manufacturing. 3.Key Responsibilities A. Sales & Business Development • Promote and sell 6-axis catalogue-based robots and associated equipment. • Develop and execute a territory sales plan aligned to company targets. • Identify, qualify, and secure new customers across manufacturing, automotive, FMCG, packaging, engineering, and industrial sectors. • Conduct on-site customer needs analysis to recommend appropriate robot models and configurations. • Drive end-to-end sales cycles from enquiry to closing orders. Customer Engagement & Account Management • Maintain regular contact with existing customers to ensure repeat business. • Manage key accounts, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and long-term relationships. • Provide pre- and post-sale technical support (with engineering team). • Prepare and deliver professional client presentations, demonstrations, and ROI proposals. Technical Product Knowledge • Develop a strong understanding of 6-axis robot specifications, catalogue options, payloads, reach, cycle times, and controller features. • Work closely with internal technical teams for configuration and solution matching. • Stay up to date with new product releases, updates, and automation trends. Quoting, Pricing & Administration • Prepare quotations, tenders, and commercial proposals. • Manage CRM entries, customer pipelines, and forecasts accurately. • Negotiate pricing within approved guidelines. • Ensure all documentation is complete and compliant with internal standards. Marketing & Sales Support • Represent the company at trade shows, exhibitions, and client events. • Provide input to marketing on product positioning and market insights. • Support promotional campaigns and territory-focused initiatives. 4.Required Qualifications & Experience Education • National Diploma or Degree in: o Mechanical Engineering o Mechatronics o Electrical Engineering OR equivalent technical qualification. • Additional sales, automation, or robotics training is advantageous. 5.Experience • 5 years experience selling technical/industrial equipment (preferably robots, automation systems, CNC, or electromechanical machinery). • Hands-on experience with robotics, automation, or system integration is a strong advantage. • Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets. • Experience with catalogue-based product sales highly beneficial. 6.Skills & Competencies Technical • Strong understanding of industrial automation principles. • Ability to size and recommend 6-axis robots and related accessories. • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications. Sales & Commercial • Strong negotiation and closing skills. • Excellent pipeline management and forecasting discipline. • Highly professional communication and presentation skills. Ability to sell value, not price • Results-driven and ambitious. • Excellent relationship-building skills. • Strong problem-solving approach. • Ability to work independently and manage travel commitments. • Customer-centric mindset. 7.Performance KPIs • Monthly/quarterly sales targets achieved. • Number of new customers acquired. • Pipeline growth and opportunity management. • Customer retention and repeat business. • Accuracy of forecasts and CRM reporting. • Contribution to brand visibility and market penetration. 8.Working Conditions • Office field-based role (approx. 50%–70% travel). • Frequent customer site visits to factories, workshops, integrator facilities. • Occasional travel to exhibitions, training sessions, and suppliers. • Company tools provided: laptop, phone, vehicle/travel allowance. . 9.Ideal Candidate Profile An ideal candidate is a self-driven, technically skilled sales professional with proven experience in industrial automation. They should have strong technical curiosity, the ability to understand robotic systems, and a natural ability to engage engineers, production managers, and company executives. They must thrive in a high-performance environment and be comfortable selling complex, high-value technology.
