About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Livestock Manager to join our team at Farm Manager SA. As a key member of our farm, you will be responsible for the daily management of our large herd of extensive beef cattle. You will work closely with our farming operations to ensure the health and productivity of our cattle.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulate and implement breeding and reproduction strategies
- Implement rotational grazing management system with allied supplementation rations produced and formulated on site
- Manage bull selection, pregnancy diagnosis, calf supervision, weaning strategy, and herd productivity monitoring
- Supervise staff training and development
- Monitor financial planning and budgeting for the farm
- Maintain accurate records of cattle health, nutrition, and grazing
- Provide nutritional guidance to ensure optimal cow performance
Requirements
- Agricultural Diploma / Degree
- Experience with management of a large herd of extensive beef cattle (600 breeding cows and followers)
- Well versed in all aspects of herd health and welfare (diseases, parasite control, and vaccinations)
- Strong record keeping skills
- Knowledge of nutrition and grazing systems
