Job Description

A busy hotel operation in Cape Town is recruiting a Hotel Maintenance Supervisor to oversee day-to-day technical upkeep and ensure the property remains fully operational, safe, and guest-ready at all times. This role requires a practical, hands-on supervisor who understands the pressures of a live hotel environment and can lead maintenance activities with minimal disruption to guests. The position suits someone who enjoys being on the ground, solving problems quickly, and managing both people and plant efficiently. Role Requirements To be successful in this role, candidates must demonstrate: Previous experience supervising maintenance within a hotel or hospitality environment Strong multi-skilled maintenance knowledge (electrical, plumbing, general building, minor HVAC) Ability to coordinate and supervise maintenance staff and external contractors Experience working in guest-facing environments where discretion and speed are essential Availability for shifts, standby, weekends, and public holidays South African ID Grade 12 (Matric) Technical or trade-related qualification (advantageous) Strong fault-finding, prioritisation, and organisational skills Key Focus Areas Oversee daily maintenance tasks across guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house Ensure rapid response to breakdowns and urgent maintenance issues Implement and monitor preventative maintenance programmes Allocate work, supervise output, and support the maintenance team Liaise with contractors and suppliers to ensure quality workmanship Maintain records, job cards, and maintenance reporting Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hotel operational standards Support management with ongoing maintenance planning Ideal Profile Practical, solutions-driven, and dependable Comfortable making decisions in a live hotel setting Strong attention to detail with a proactive mindset Professional and calm under pressure This role is suited to a maintenance professional who understands hotel operations and thrives in an active, guest-focused environment.
