About the team:
Fund Operations is a global team of 30 people broadly split into 5 sub teams all sharing the same core responsibility of oversight and facilitation of transfer agent activities and supporting clients who invest in their Fund Ranges.
The Fund Operations team plays a vital role in ensuring efficient, compliant, and investor-focused fund administration through effective management of the outsourced transfer agent relationship.
As a Fund Operations Team Leader, you will be responsible for transfer agent oversight and for leading the Fund Operations team to deliver accurate, efficient, and timely operational outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary point of contact for SA, Botswana, Namibia and Hedge funds Unit Trust operational and finance related matters
- Oversight of administration function performed by our Transfer Agent, in line with SLA
- Responsible for the Fund Operations Finance function which includes but not limited to, bank reconciliation, cash management, commission, rebates, deal amends and taxation processes
- Resolve and manage queries keeping all stakeholders informed of progress
- Provide oversight of stakeholder correspondence
- Oversee and maintain banking relationships, ensuring efficient management of inflows and operating accounts
- Participate in finance, banking, tax, regulatory projects and web development initiatives
- Process improvement – assist with documentation and implementation of more efficient processes
- Conduct statistical trend analyses to identify patterns and inform decision-making
- Maintain good working relationships with the Transfer Agent, Client groups, Tax, Legal, Compliance and other operations teams across the business
- Participate in monthly relationship meetings with the Transfer Agent to ensure alignment, review performance, and address key issues
- Monitoring of Transfer Agent key performance indicators
- Preparation and monitoring of annual rate card and project budgets
- Oversight of expenditure relating to the Transfer Agent, including authorisation of payment of invoices
- Manage and develop the Fund Operations team, offering guidance and mentorship to support continuous improvement and team effectiveness.
Requirements:
- CA(SA) from big four, with 4 5 years post article asset management auditing experience, and leadership/management working experience
- Proficiency in data analysis tools, for example Excel, Power BI, HyperionDev, etc.
- A methodical and detailed-orientated approach to work
- Having previous management and operational experience would be an advantage
