About the Role
The Lab Assistant (Radiation Equipment) role is a vital part of our radiation detection equipment company, requiring a skilled individual to manage dosimeters, maintain equipment, and ensure laboratory activities run smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Assigns and dispatches dosimeters to customers.
- Evaluates dosimeters returned to the laboratory by customers.
- Prepares dose reports.
- Ensures that turnaround times in relation to laboratory activities are adhered to.
- Assists with the calibration of the reader and dosimeters.
- Assists with quality assurance activities of the monitoring systems.
- Assists with record keeping of quality and technical records.
- Assists with recording and filing of all equipment records for quality management purposes.
- Performs routine maintenance of the dosimeter reader system.
- Maintains safe and conducive environmental conditions suitable for various laboratory activities.
- Tracks and manages the dosimeter stock and ensures that the dosimeter inventory is up to date.
- Performs such other duties assigned by Laboratory Management as may be necessary for the effective implementation of laboratory activities.
Requirements
Minimum 2 years experience in radiation and dosimetry laboratory or equivalent environment preferred. Ability to work unsupervised. Good analytical and reporting skills. Matric Diploma in Radiation Health Physics or equivalent RTO cert Chemical Laboratory Analyst Skills.
