Hire Resolve is currently seeking a highly skilled Assistant Resident Engineer specializing in Roads for a contract role at an engineering consulting firm.
As an Assistant Resident Engineer (Roads), you will play a critical role in overseeing and managing road construction projects. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with engineering standards and specifications, monitoring project progress, and coordinating with various stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
Responsibilities:
Oversee road construction projects and ensure compliance with engineering standards and specifications
Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to the Resident Engineer
Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met
Review and approve construction plans and documents
Perform regular site inspections to ensure quality and safety standards are maintained
Resolve any issues or challenges that arise during the construction process
Maintain accurate project records and documentation
Requirements:
Bachelor`s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
Minimum of 5 years of experience in road construction projects
Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly preferred
Strong knowledge of road construction techniques, materials, and standards
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively
Proficiency in project management software and tools
Attention to detail and strong analytical skills
Ability to work well in a team environment

In this role, you will work closely with the Resident Engineer and other team members to manage all aspects of road construction projects, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation. You will conduct regular site inspections, review technical documents, and collaborate with contractors and subcontractors to ensure efficient project delivery. Strong communication and leadership skills are essential for success in this position.
Responsibilities:
Assist the Resident Engineer in managing all aspects of road construction projects, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation
Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, quality, and safety compliance
Collaborate with contractors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure timely and efficient project delivery
Review engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents to verify accuracy and adherence to project requirements
Prepare progress reports, work schedules, and cost estimates for presentation to project stakeholders
Provide technical support and guidance to project team members as needed
Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, codes, and standards throughout the project lifecycle
Assist in resolving technical issues and addressing any changes or modifications to project plans
Maintain accurate project records, including drawings, reports, and correspondence
Support the Resident Engineer in managing client expectations and fostering positive relationships
Requirements:
Bachelor`s degree or higher in Civil Engineering or related field
Diploma in Civil Engineering will be considered with 15 years experience
Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in road construction projects if you have a degree.
Strong knowledge of engineering principles, construction methods, and industry best practices
Experience working on SANRAL projects
Proficiency in project management software and tools
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
Valid driver`s license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed
