Job Summary
- Tracking assigned shipments to ensure the successful delivery of logistics services
- Handling external logistics suppliers, warehouse operations, clearing agents and freight service providers to ensure the successful delivery of jobs on time and in specifications, to satisfy client requirements
- Ensuring that the clearance documentation provided by clients is proactively analyzed before the arrival of cargo and ensuring that shipping methods comply with rules, regulations and applicable laws
- Accurate and timely provision of information and resolution of queries, verifying and meeting established deadlines
- Following up on customs pre-clearances, load planning, cargo loading and transport allocation
- Making sure that empty containers are returned to the shipping line nominated depots
- Preparing accurate and timely reports as required and updating the company’s ERP systems
- Working in accordance with all company policies, procedures and processes
- Travelling to physical client and supplier sites
- Inspecting deliveries for misplaced orders or damaged goods
Minimum Qualifications and Work Experience:
- 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role
- Knowledge of port, shipping, CFS and border operations
- Solid knowledge in customs clearance processes in common markets for the eastern Africa region
- Good communication, interpersonal and IT skills
