Job Summary
Description:
Hire Resolve`s Client is currently looking for an Occupational Health and Safety Officer to join their mining company based in the Gauteng.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor adherence to the Mine Health and Safety Act and its regulations.
- Keep updated with amendments to safety laws and implement necessary changes.
- Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act when applicable.
- Identify workplace hazards and assess risks.
- Develop and implement risk control measures to mitigate hazards.
- Regularly review and update risk assessments as mining activities change.
- Conduct routine inspections of mining operations, equipment, and facilities.
- Ensure safety systems, such as ventilation and machinery safeguards, are functional.
- Investigate unsafe conditions and recommend corrective actions.
- Investigate accidents, injuries, and near-misses to determine causes.
- Compile detailed reports and recommend measures to prevent recurrence.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies during investigations, if required.
- Provide health and safety training to employees and contractors.
Requirements:
- Grade 12
- Degree/Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or related field
- SAMTRAC or COMSOC 1& 2
- Valid Driver`s License
