Job Summary

A Saw Operator job involves setting up, operating, and maintaining saws to cut various materials accurately and safely, while adhering to production specifications and maintaining a clean and organized workspace. Here’s a more detailed breakdown of a Saw Operator’s responsibilities:Key Duties and Responsibilities:~ Operating Saws: Operate various types of saws, including but not limited to, band saws, circular saws, and chop saws, to cut materials like wood, metal, plastic, or other materials to specified dimensions. ~ Setting Up and Adjusting Saws: Set up and adjust saw machines for different jobs, including setting stops, guides, and blades according to specifications. ~ Material Handling: Load and unload materials for cutting, ensuring proper handling and safety procedures are followed. ~ Measuring and Inspecting: Use measuring tools (calipers, rulers, etc.) to ensure accuracy and inspect finished pieces for defects. ~ Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on saws, including checking and replacing blades, belts, and other parts, and ensuring the equipment is in safe working condition. ~ Following Specifications: Adhere to blueprints, job orders, and other specifications to ensure accurate and quality cuts. ~ Safety: Follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). ~ Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of production and any issues or repairs.~ Cleaning and Organization: Keep the work area clean and organized. Skills and Qualifications:~ Experience: Experience with operating saws and related machinery is highly desirable. ~ Technical Skills: Ability to read blueprints, understand specifications, and use measuring tools. ~ Mechanical Aptitude: Understanding of basic mechanical principles and ability to perform routine maintenance. ~ Safety Knowledge: Knowledge of safety procedures and the ability to work safely. ~ Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift and move materials, and perform repetitive motions.
