Job Description:
The Chief Safety Officer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring safety policies and programs to ensure compliance with local regulations and industry best practices. They will collaborate with senior management, mine operators, and safety personnel to create a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

– Develop and enforce safety policies, programs, and procedures to ensure compliance with local regulations and industry best practices
– Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions
– Provide safety training and resources to employees at all levels of the organization
– Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and implement preventive measures
– Develop emergency response plans and protocols to ensure a timely and effective response to emergencies
– Monitor and report on safety performance metrics, trends, and compliance with safety goals
– Collaborate with senior management, mine operators, and safety personnel to create a culture of safety and continuous improvement
– Stay current on industry trends, regulations, and best practices to recommend improvements to safety programs

Qualifications:
– Bachelor`s degree in Safety Management, Occupational Health and Safety, or related field
– Minimum of 8 years of experience in safety management in the mining industry
– Professional certification in safety management (such as CSP, CIH, or CMIOSH) preferred
– Strong knowledge of local safety regulations and industry best practices
– Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
– Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and influence change
– Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
– Knowledge of emergency response procedures and protocols
