About the Role
A well-established four-star hotel in Cape Town is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Financial Manager to support sound financial decision-making and strengthen overall financial governance. This role is integral to ensuring accurate, timely, and reliable financial information while contributing to long-term financial stability and effective strategic and operational planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyse monthly management reports
- Monitor daily financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting principles
- Assist in managing accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations
- Oversee and reconcile bank statements, credit card payments, and petty cash
- Collaborate with management to identify opportunities for cost reduction and revenue growth
- Support the annual audit process and ensure compliance with accounting standards
- Provide financial guidance and support to department heads and managers
- Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining financial policies and procedures
- Perform regular financial analysis to identify variances and make strategic recommendations
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a similar financial role within the hospitality industry
- Solid understanding of financial principles and accounting practices
- Proficiency in financial software, including Excel and other MS Office applications
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
