About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Pizza Chef to join our busy restaurant in Cape Town. As a key member of our kitchen team, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking pizzas to the highest standards, ensuring perfect dough, toppings, and baking techniques are consistently applied for every order.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook pizzas to the highest standards
- Manage the pizza section of the kitchen, maintaining cleanliness, organization, and ensuring all equipment is in optimal working condition
- Oversee dough preparation including mixing, kneading, fermenting, and proofing, ensuring texture and flavour align with the restaurant’s premium standards
- Collaborate with the Head Chef to develop innovative pizza recipes
- Ensure precise and timely service during busy periods, coordinating with other kitchen sections to deliver a seamless dining experience
- Monitor inventory and stock levels, ordering ingredients as necessary while minimizing waste and adhering to the restaurant’s cost control measures
Requirements
- Culinary Certificate/Diploma
- 2-3 years previous experience as a Chef De Partie with focus on pizza making
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a calm, professional demeanour
- Expertise in pizza-making techniques, including dough preparation, proofing, stretching, and baking in wood-fired or speciality ovens
