About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and passionate chef to join our family-owned and operated wine cellar in the heart of the Durbanville Wine Valley. As a Commis Chef or Junior Chef de Partie, you will be an integral part of our team, responsible for delivering exceptional culinary experiences to our guests.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook high-quality dishes according to menu specifications
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, adhering to health and safety standards
- Assist with food preparation, plating, and presentation
- Work effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment, prioritizing tasks and managing time efficiently
Requirements
- 1–2 years of experience in a similar role (Junior Chef de Partie)
- Formal culinary training is essential
- Ability to work independently and manage a section
- Versatility to assist across various kitchen sections (advantageous)
Alternatively, for the Commis Chef position:
- 6 months to 1 year of kitchen experience
- Culinary graduates or students are encouraged to apply
- Willingness to learn, take direction, and develop skills
Qualifications
- Formal culinary training (Bachelor’s degree, Diploma, or certification in Culinary Arts)
