About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Marketing Researcher / Interviewer to join our team in Cape Town City Centre. The successful candidate will have a strong background in social science, social work, journalism or anthropology, and excellent communication skills. They will be responsible for conducting interviews with customers, planning and managing field research schedules, and synthesizing early findings into a clear, concise write-up.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and prepare field research schedule and conduct interviews with customers
- Record conversations and take down detailed notes about conversations and observations
- Write clear and logical discussion guides
- Observe patterns (thematic saturation), test and stretch ideas
- Bring creative energy and conceptual thinking to projects, helping translate complex findings into meaningful narratives
- Work collaboratively with the full team to ensure the client brief and the project have creative stretch
- Share updates and new insights with the team
- Communicate possible delays or challenges to the Field Lead
- Brief and handover findings and interview recordings to Editor and Report Writer for further editing
Requirements
- Matric, or relevant qualification
- Qualification or degree in Psychology, Sociology, Communications, or a related field
- Background in social science, social work, journalism or anthropology preferred
- Valid SA driver’s license and own vehicle, willing to travel to interviews
- Experience or exposure to research, interviewing or community work
- Skilled at interviewing, listening and observing in nuanced, sensitive ways
- Comfortable working and engaging in diverse environments, cultures and communities
- Good writing, synthesis and reflection skills
Qualifications
- Valid SA driver’s license
- Own vehicle for travel to interviews
