About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Ocean Product Manager to join our team in Cape Town City Centre. As a key member of our Clearing & Forwarding industry, you will be responsible for managing our ocean freight product and driving business growth. You will work closely with our sales team to identify new opportunities and develop strategies to improve productivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and maintain an effective department organization chart, designed for flexibility and growth
- Prepare, execute, monitor, and update the department business plan at regular intervals
- Monitor and improve key departmental productivity
- Review and support with day-to-day quotations
- Support product with checking local charges and agreement quotes to ensure we minimize potential branch losses
- Attend the weekly branch Sales meeting and facilitate discussions on Ocean Import with market updates and trends
- Take an active role in the transition of new business/updates to existing business
- Be open to implementing new system changes and enhancements into your department
- Maintain a positive relationship with the Trade Compliance Manager and support all compliance efforts and trainings
- Review and conduct staff appraisals and one-on-one meetings timely
Requirements
- Relevant Tertiary Qualification (advantageous)
- 5 Years within an Ocean Freight Product Management role
- 5 years of Global Logistics Industry working experience and knowledge (specifically Ocean Imports & Exports and preferably within the Freight Forwarding Industry)
- Minimum of 3 years management experience and a sound understanding of all operational, finance, and commercial support processes
- Fully Computer Literate in all MS Office Suite Applications (Excel Advanced)
