About the Role
A well-established and reputable manufacturing company based in Maitland, Cape Town is seeking a highly driven and disciplined Production Supervisor 2nd Operations to lead shop floor performance within a high-volume production environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute daily production plans in line with takt time and output targets
- Ensure On Time Delivery (OTD) and optimal capacity utilisation
- Balance production lines and manage labour allocation efficiently
- Monitor performance hourly/daily and implement immediate corrective action
- Drive “Right First Time” production to minimise scrap and rework
- Enforce strict adherence to quality standards and standard operating procedures
- Investigate and resolve defects promptly
- Ensure full traceability and component compliance
- Promote a zero-defect mindset
- Support TPM and preventative maintenance activities
- Monitor equipment uptime and improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
- Ensure breakdowns are escalated and resolved without delay
- Supervise, coach, and develop production teams
- Manage attendance, timekeeping, and labour productivity
- Enforce discipline and maintain accountability
- Ensure training and competency compliance
- Implement Lean Manufacturing principles
- Drive 5S standards and waste elimination
- Lead small improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce cost
Requirements
- Qualification in Operations Management or Production Management or Industrial Engineering (Essential)
- Mechanical Engineering or related technical qualification (Preferred)
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years experience in a high-volume manufacturing or mechanical production environment
