Job Description

A well-established 90-seater smart-casual restaurant located in Kloof Street is seeking an experienced and dynamic Restaurant General Manager . The ideal candidate will not only manage day-to-day operations but will also take full ownership of the restaurant as if it were their own businessdriving profitability, operational excellence, and team performance. This role requires a strong leader with a solid understanding of financial management, marketing, staff development, and guest experience. Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership Oversee daily restaurant operations, ensuring smooth and efficient service. Maintain high standards of customer service, quality control, and guest satisfaction. Implement and monitor processes to ensure operational consistency and effectiveness. Financial Management Report on profit & loss (P&L) statements with the ability to explain and interpret results. Manage expenses and keep costs in line with operational budgets. Demonstrate strong knowledge of cost control, stock management, and financial accountability. Drive strategies to improve revenue, reduce waste, and increase profitability. Marketing & Business Growth Develop and implement creative marketing ideas to increase foot traffic and sales. Identify opportunities to grow the business and enhance brand visibility. Work closely with ownership/leadership to transform the restaurant into a more profitable operation. Team Leadership & Training Lead, motivate, and manage the restaurant team. Train staff on selling techniques to increase upselling and improve guest engagement. Foster a culture of accountability, service excellence, and team development. Requirements Minimum 2 years” experience in a Restaurant General Manager role (or equivalent senior management position). Proven track record in managing smart-casual or similar restaurant environments. Strong understanding of: Profit & Loss management Expense control Cost management Stock and financial controls Ability to implement marketing ideas and drive business growth. Excellent communication, leadership, and people management skills. Ability to coach and develop a team to sell, upsell, and perform at high standards. Strong business acumen and a results-driven mindset.

Job Description

The Role – Restaurant General Manager – Cape Town area To achieve employee P & L, customer, profit, and sales targets and maintain restaurant operational excellence in accordance with Company policies and procedures through team management. RESPONSIBILITIES: Achieve Standards within the restaurant by ensuring that all employees are focused on exceeding customer expectations for Cleanliness, Hospitality, Accuracy, Maintenance, Product and Speed of Service Manage shifts in accordance with Company Policies and Procedures including directing the activities of employees in maximising sales, operating efficiency and profitability Forecast and schedule labour by shift and create a deployment plan to control labour costs and still meet the needs of the business Ensure that controls and procedures are implemented to protect the safety and security of employees, customers, property, and company funds Implement restaurant training programmes for all staff to enable them to maximise performance and realise their career potential Manage cost controls in accordance with company policy and procedures, directing the activities of employees in meeting targets placed on controllable, maximizing sales, operating efficiency and profitability Ensure that the training and development of employees is to company standards, and initiate action where necessary to ensure that all employees meet the standards of performance required Achieve consistent results through team management REQUIREMENTS (not negotiable): At least three (3) years’ experience at supervisory level in a QSR environment Must have Matric English proficiency Numeracy proficiency Computer skills: Windows experience, word processing, spreadsheets and electronic mail Financial acumen: Basic understanding of financial information Business skills: Managerial experience & Points of sales
