Kendrick Recruitment is seeking an experienced Duty Manager to join a luxury boutique hotel in Cape Town. This role requires a confident, professional leader with excellent guest service skills and the ability to oversee smooth operations across multiple departments.

Key Responsibilities:

Guest Experience

• Personally welcome VIP, repeat, and special occasion guests

• Oversee check-in and check-out processes for efficiency and professionalism

• Handle guest complaints and feedback promptly and effectively

• Engage with guests in public areas, anticipating and exceeding their needs

• Ensure guest requests such as tours, transfers, and reservations are actioned efficiently

Operational Oversight

• Act as Manager on Duty (MOD) in the absence of senior management

• Conduct property checks to monitor housekeeping, public areas, and maintenance standards

• Liaise with Housekeeping to ensure rooms are ready and arrivals/departures are smooth

• Coordinate with Food & Beverage to maintain service standards

• Ensure accurate guest profiles and billing in the front office

• Oversee security protocols and respond to operational challenges

Team Leadership

• Lead by example, setting high standards for grooming, etiquette, and service

• Supervise, motivate, and mentor the Front Office team

• Assist with scheduling to ensure adequate departmental coverage

• Promote teamwork and collaboration across departments

Administration & Communication

• Compile Duty Manager reports highlighting guest feedback, incidents, and follow-ups

• Conduct thorough shift handovers with management and colleagues

• Monitor cash handling and compliance with financial procedures

• Track and report guest feedback trends and operational challenges

• Support compliance with health, safety, and legislative requirements

Requirements:

• Minimum 23 years experience in a supervisory, assistant manager, or duty manager role within hospitality

• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills

• Guest-focused mindset with excellent attention to detail

• Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure
