Job Summary
Our client a leader in the digital media and entertainment industry is looking for Head of Artificial Intelligence to join their dynamic and fast-paced team, where technology, content, and innovation shape South Africas top digital, print, and ecommerce platforms.
Step into a pivotal leadership role where innovation meets execution.
As Head of Artificial Intelligence, you`ll craft and implement groundbreaking AI strategies that align with the companys mission. Your work will be at the heart of accelerating our digital transformation by amplifying the impact of artificial intelligence for our consumer products and services.
Key
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a strategic AI vision aligned with the companys goals.
- Lead the design, development, and deployment of AI models and solutions.
- Manage and mentor a team of AI data scientists, machine learning engineers, and analysts.
- Collaborate with content, technology, and business teams to identify AI opportunities and drive innovation.
- Analyse and interpret complex datasets to provide actionable insights.
- Drive automation initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs.
- Communicate AI strategies and outcomes to stakeholders, including executives and non-technical audiences.
The AI team:
You will lead and be supported by an established team of data scientists and data engineers, as well as the head of accelerated AI adoption.
Qualifications:
- Masters or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related field.
- Proven experience in AI development and deployment, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Experience building and leading a high-performance data science/AI team, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning.
- Strong expertise in AI/ML frameworks and tools such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, and cloud services – Google Cloud, or Azure.
- Excellent understanding of natural language processing (NLP), Large Language Models, GenAI and data analytics.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to translate AI concepts into business value.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

- Forward-thinking and capable of anticipating the impacts of emerging technologies to keep the company at the forefront of AI innovation and to guide investments.
- Ability to communicate the value and impact of AI initiatives to stakeholders across the organization, translating complex AI concepts into meaningful business outcomes.
- Leadership skills to motivate and develop team members.
- Project management experience with agile methodologies.
- Strong mentoring skills to develop talent within the organization
- Ability to operate and collaborate across departments, disciplines, and businesses.
