Job Summary
Qualified Accountant
Location: Foreshore, Cape Town
We are seeking a qualified accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in preparing and signing off year-end financial statements, managing tax compliance, and handling VAT matters. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
Key
Responsibilities:
- Year-End Financials:
- Prepare and review year-end financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
- Ensure accuracy and compliance with financial reporting requirements.
- Sign off on financial statements and liaise with external auditors during the audit process.
- Tax Compliance:
- Prepare and submit corporate tax returns and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
- Provide tax planning and advisory services to optimize tax liabilities.
- Stay updated on changes in tax legislation and assess their impact on the organization.
- VAT Management:
- Prepare and submit VAT returns accurately and on time.
- Ensure compliance with VAT regulations and maintain proper documentation.
- Provide guidance on VAT-related queries and assist in VAT audits.
- Financial Analysis:
- Conduct financial analysis and reporting to support decision-making.
- Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with other departments to gather necessary financial information.
- Provide support and training to junior staff as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) is essential.
- Minimum 3 – 5 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on year-end financials, tax, and VAT.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and tax regulations.
- Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
