Job Description

Introduction Future Careers is seeking a DevSecOps Engineer for a leading South African e-commerce platform, based in Cape Town (remote/hybrid). The successful candidate will play a key role at the intersection of software development, infrastructure, and security, driving initiatives that improve application security, optimize CI/CD pipelines, and maintain high-quality, secure code. This role is ideal for a technically skilled, proactive professional with experience in containerized environments, cloud platforms, and modern DevOps tools who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced tech environment. Description Operate at the intersection of software development, infrastructure, and security, taking ownership of assigned projects while collaborating with the team. Monitor and report on the companys security posture using new or existing tools. Lead initiatives to assess vulnerabilities, remediate issues, and track findings to continuously improve application security. Develop and maintain security monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to enhance security observability. Configure, manage, and optimize Web Application Firewall (WAF) solutions to protect web applications from attacks. Design, develop, and test code in Golang, NodeJS, or Python. Conduct code reviews and maintain high standards of code quality. Draft technical specifications, briefs, and documentation for security and development initiatives. Gather and organise technical information into actionable plans in collaboration with colleagues. Education Profile Bachelors Degree or Advanced Diploma in Information Systems, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Engineering. OR minimum of 4 years experience in a DevSecOps role, or strong background in both DevOps and security (if no degree/diploma). Practical experience with containerized environments (Docker & Kubernetes preferred). Practical experience with Terraform, with emphasis on integrating security controls. Experience configuring, managing, and integrating CI/CD tools and pipelines. Experience working in Mac/Linux environments. Experience with metrics and monitoring systems (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, NewRelic, Elastic APM). Proficiency in shell scripting. Bonus / Preferred Experience: Experience with Cloudflare enterprise offerings. Experience in the e-commerce sector. Familiarity with microservices architecture and securing APIs. Experience with Google Cloud (Compute Engine, Kubernetes Engine, BigQuery, CloudSQL, etc.). Experience in securing PHP projects. Skills Required: Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong drive for results and ownership. Ability to work effectively in a team. Good communication skills. Ability to build and maintain relationships. Application Instructions
