The Shipping Manager will be pivotal in coordinating the flow of goods internationally, ensuring that shipments reach their destinations safely, promptly, and in compliance with all regulations.

Your expertise will contribute significantly to streamlining our shipping processes and enhancing overall supply chain efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with international suppliers and vendors to ensure timely shipment of goods.
  • Optimize transportation methods and routes for efficient, cost-effective import processes.
  • Ensure compliance with customs regulations, trade laws, and international standards.
  • Oversee the preparation and accuracy of all import documentation, including bills of lading, invoices, and customs declarations.
  • Negotiate rates and contracts with shipping carriers, freight forwarders, and other logistics providers.
  • Track and monitor the status of inbound shipments (Sea Freight and Air Freight) to ensure on-time delivery and address any delays or issues.
  • Update ERP system with shipment status, Purchase Orders, Shipping Records, and payment dates.
  • Maintain strong relationships with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and other key stakeholders.
  • Address and resolve issues related to shipment delays, damages, or compliance violations.
  • Analyze import costs and implement strategies to reduce expenses and improve cost efficiency.
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date records of all import transactions, shipments, and related activities; update online trackers.
  • Develop and enforce shipping policies and procedures to streamline import operations.
  • Collaborate with procurement, sales, production, and other departments to align import activities with company goals.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with international shipping, such as geopolitical issues, currency fluctuations, and supply chain disruptions.
  • Continuously assess and improve import processes to enhance efficiency, reliability, and performance.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary education in Supply Chain, Logistics or International Business
  • Over 5 years of experience in shipping, logistics, or supply chain management.
  • Proven expertise in managing import transactions and international shipping.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills required.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Proficiency in logistics software and shipment tracking systems.
  • In-depth understanding of customs regulations and international trade compliance.
  • Fluent in English; Afrikaans is beneficial.
  • Willingness to stay updated on global shipping and trade regulations.
