About the Role

The Waiter/Waitress at Pepperclub Hotel & Spa is a key role that requires exceptional service skills, knowledge of food and beverages, and a strong ability to interact with guests. As a representative of Pepperclub’s RAISE values, you will be expected to deliver memorable guest experiences across our restaurants, bar, and events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver superior, friendly, and personalised guest service at all times.
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of food, beverages, and menu offerings.
  • Greet guests, take accurate orders, and communicate details clearly to the kitchen and bar.
  • Assess guest preferences and make informed recommendations.
  • Confidently up-sell and suggest additional menu items to enhance guest experience.
  • Provide guidance to guests on hotel dining options, activities, and Cape Town attractions.
  • Prepare and maintain clean, well-set tables and service areas.
  • Ensure checks, payments, and billing are handled accurately.
  • Assist with stock control, requisitions, and inventory management as needed.
  • Maintain compliance with health, hygiene, and safety standards.
  • Participate in daily briefings to stay updated on menu changes, specials, and reservations.
  • Actively contribute to teamwork, a positive service culture, and smooth departmental operations.

Requirements

  • Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal); additional languages advantageous.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a warm, guest-focused personality.
  • A passion for hospitality and serving people.
  • Minimum 2 years waitering or bartending experience in a luxury hotel, fine dining, or upmarket restaurant/bar environment.
  • Experience with Point of Sale (POS) systems and basic stock/inventory control.
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional appearance and grooming in line with hotel standards.
  • Flexible availability for shifts, weekends, evenings, and public holidays.
  • Reliable, diligent, and detail-oriented with proven commitment to service excellence.
  • Knowledge of Cape Town and surrounding areas is advantageous.
  • International or luxury property experience beneficial.
