About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Accountant / Financial Manager to join our team at CA Support. As a key member of our financial department, you will play a critical role in supporting our operations and driving business growth. Your primary responsibilities will include migrating our accounting systems from Pastel to Xero, developing new reports, and managing our IT infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the migration from Pastel to Xero and develop new reports.
- Improve IT systems, including cloud backups.
- Analyse cost items (e.g., chemicals) across orchards.
- Manage Sage Payroll and oversee fortnightly wage checks.
- Combine payroll data and submit EMP201/EMP501.
- Compile Employment Equity and COIDA reports.
- Prepare monthly management accounts.
- Prepare VAT, tax returns, and provisional tax calculations.
- Develop cashflow planning strategies.
- Convert export payment reports to Excel, update weekly figures.
- Prepare annual production reports combining logistics + financial data.
- Support ethical & environmental audits.
- Explore opportunities to use AI to simplify tasks.
- Strong Excel work (pivot tables, advanced formulas; VBA/Python a bonus).
- Review supplier contracts and highlight key terms.
Requirements
- Degree in Accounting or Financial Management or similar Accounting qualification
- Preferable SAICA, SAIPA or CIMA articles.
- Minimum of 2 years post-articles experience.
- Solid experience in full accounting function up to management accounts and annual financial reporting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
- Highly competent with technology
- Interested in long-term growth with the business
