Job Summary
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Pipe Welder, with specific expertise in GTAW (TIG) welding on pipes.
- Valid welding certifications (e.g., AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, or other relevant certifications) are preferred. TIG/GTAW-specific certifications will be advantageous.
- Successful completion of a relevant Trade Test.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings, welding symbols, and piping diagrams to follow welding procedures.
- In-depth knowledge of GTAW welding process, pipe preparation, and the ability to weld materials such as carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloys.
- Ability to work in physically demanding environments, including standing for long periods, working in confined spaces, and lifting heavy materials.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce clean, accurate, and structurally sound welds.
Responsibilities:
- GTAW Pipe Welding:
Perform high-quality TIG welding (GTAW) on various types of pipes, ensuring precise welds that meet industry standards and project specifications. - Read and Interpret Technical Drawings:
Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and piping schematics to accurately follow installation and fabrication instructions. - Material Preparation:
Prepare pipe and pipe fittings for welding by cutting, cleaning, beveling, and aligning the workpieces, ensuring proper fit-up. - Weld Inspection:
Inspect completed welds for accuracy, strength, and appearance, ensuring they comply with quality control standards. Make necessary adjustments and rework any welds that do not meet specifications. - System Installation:
Install and weld pipes and related components (e.g., valves, flanges, elbows) for a variety of industrial systems such as gas, steam, water, or chemical systems. - Welding Process Control:
Set up and calibrate welding machines to ensure optimal performance, including selecting appropriate welding parameters, filler rods, and shielding gases based on material type and thickness. - Maintain Equipment:
Regularly maintain and troubleshoot welding equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. - Work with Other Trades:
Collaborate with other welders, fabricators, and fitters to complete projects according to schedule and to resolve any technical challenges that arise during the installation process. - Project Documentation:
Complete necessary paperwork, including work logs, inspection reports, and material usage reports, as required by the project.
