Job Description:

We are seeking a qualified and experienced PR Quantity Surveyor to join our client`s team in Durban. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of quantity surveying on healthcare, commercial, and residential projects. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.


Key

Responsibilities:

  • Cost Estimation & Budgeting:

    • Prepare and manage cost estimates and budgets for healthcare, commercial, and residential projects.
    • Provide accurate financial forecasting and reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
    • Advise on the cost implications of design choices and alternative construction methods.
  • Procurement & Tendering:

    • Coordinate the preparation and submission of tenders, ensuring compliance with specifications and deadlines.
    • Manage the procurement of subcontractors and suppliers, negotiating contracts and monitoring performance.
    • Review tender submissions and provide recommendations to project teams.
  • Contract Management:

    • Administer contracts, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions.
    • Monitor project costs against budgets and highlight any discrepancies.
    • Handle contractual issues, variations, and claims, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Project Cost Control:

    • Track and manage project expenditures to ensure costs remain within budget.
    • Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend cost-effective alternatives.
    • Monitor and report on the financial progress of projects, ensuring client satisfaction and profitability.
  • Collaboration & Communication:

    • Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients to provide expert advice on cost and financial matters.
    • Attend project meetings to discuss project progress and budget performance.
    • Prepare and present regular reports to senior management and clients.
  • Quality Assurance:

    • Ensure that all work complies with relevant standards, regulations, and quality requirements.
    • Conduct site inspections to ensure work is being carried out according to specifications and on budget.

Requirements:

  • Educational Qualifications:

    • BSc/BTech in Quantity Surveying.
    • Registration with SACQSP as a Professional Quantity Surveyor (PrQS).
  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 15 years of experience in Cost Management
    • Proven track record of managing project costs, tenders, and contracts from inception to completion.
    • Strong understanding of construction contracts (JBCC, NEC, etc.) and industry standards.
  • Skills:

    • Excellent knowledge of cost management, procurement, and tendering processes.
    • Proficiency in quantity surveying software and MS Office Suite.
    • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and budget constraints.
    • Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
