About the Role
The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing sheet metal components and electrical enclosures, including MCCs, electrical panels, and busbars. The role requires strong proficiency in Solid Edge for 2D and 3D design, with close collaboration across mechanical and electrical disciplines to deliver accurate, manufacturable designs.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop sheet metal components and assemblies for industrial applications
- Produce accurate 2D and 3D mechanical drawings using Solid Edge
- Design and layout MCCs, electrical panels, and busbars in line with electrical and mechanical specifications
- Prepare detailed manufacturing drawings and bills of materials (BOMs)
- Collaborate with electrical engineers, production teams, and suppliers to ensure design feasibility
- Update and maintain design documentation and revision control
- Support manufacturing processes, including troubleshooting design-related issues
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years experience in mechanical design within a sheet metal environment
- Extensive experience in Solid Edge (2D and 3D CAD)
- Sound understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes
- Experience in the electrical field, specifically MCC (Motor Control Centre) design, electrical panels, and busbar design
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years experience in mechanical design within a sheet metal environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field is preferred but not required
