Job Summary
Responsibilities:
- Conduct individual and group therapy sessions for patients with addiction and co-occurring mental health disorders.
- Provide assessments and diagnoses for mental health and substance use disorders.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement treatment plans.
- Participate in case conferences and staff meetings to discuss patient progress and treatment strategies.
- Maintain patient records and documentation in accordance with ethical and legal standards.
- Stay current with research and best practices in addiction treatment and mental health care.
Requirements:
- Relevant qualification as Clinical /Counseling Psychologist (Bpsych, Hons, Masters) with valid HPCSA registration
- Previous experience working in a hospital and not only private practice experience
- Experience with in-patient settings
- Experience working with patients with addiction and co-occurring mental health disorders (substance abuse and eating disorders a must).
- Strong assessment and diagnostic skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a high command of English first language.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals.
- Knowledge of evidence-based addiction treatment modalities and mental health interventions.
- Commitment to ethical and professional standards.
- EMDR qualified, trained and experienced would be advantageous
