Role Overview:

As the Portfolio Accountant, you’ll play a key role in maintaining accurate and complete general ledgers and managing all related accounting functions across a property portfolio. You’ll work closely with property managers, ensuring financials are accurate, compliant, and delivered on time.

Key

• Maintain complete and accurate general ledgers.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts monthly, clearing items timeously.
• Review monthly bank reconciliations.
• Reconcile and confirm intercompany loan accounts (if applicable).
• Maintain the Fixed Asset Register:
  • Allocate/add assets
  • Generate depreciation
  • Reconcile clearing account and ledger
• Submit monthly VAT returns via e-Filing by the 25th, ensuring full reconciliation.
• Process tenant deposit refunds and appropriations.
• Calculate collection commissions per rent roll.
• Reconcile Debtors Clearing account regularly.
• Prepare monthly journals and financial packs for external clients.
• Produce weekly cash flow statements and manage expenditure.
• Identify monthly accruals and ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Liaise with property managers on accruals and financial updates.
• Prepare financial statements per IFRS standards.
• Support ongoing compliance, audits, and internal control improvements.

What You Need to Succeed:

Qualifications:

• Matric (required)
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (BCom minimum)
• BCom Honours and completed SAICA articles preferred

Experience:

• 3–5 years in a similar accounting role
• IFRS financial statement preparation experience (non-negotiable)
• Audit experience advantageous
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, MS Office, and accounting software
