Job Description
Role Purpose
The successful candidate will be responsible for driving sales of CTI PLCs, automation modules, I/O cards, racks, power supplies, networking accessories, and a wide range of catalogue-listed automation components. This role requires a blend of sales ability, technical understanding, and a proactive customer-focused approach.
Key Responsibilities
1. Sales & Customer Development
- Identify new business opportunities within existing and potential customer bases
- Engage with clients to understand automation requirements
- Promote CTI PLC systems and catalogue-listed automation components
- Conduct outbound sales activities, including calls, emails, and customer visits
2. Account Management
- Maintain relationships with key customers to ensure ongoing satisfaction
- Manage account portfolios and monitor customer purchasing trends
- Provide follow-up support on orders, quotes, and product information
3. Technical Understanding & Product Support
- Provide first-line product guidance on CTI PLCs, modules, I/O cards, and accessories
- Assist customers in identifying correct components for their applications
- Work closely with technical teams for advanced support when required
- Understand catalogue product ranges and communicate key specifications (training provided)
4. Sales Administration
- Prepare and manage quotations, sales documentation, and order processing
- Maintain accurate CRM and administrative records
- Ensure efficient internal coordination with logistics and operations teams
5. Market & Competitor Awareness
- Stay informed of competitor products, pricing, and market activity
- Identify trends or opportunities in the industrial automation sector
- Provide feedback to management regarding customer needs and product gaps
Required Skills & Competencies
Technical Competencies
- Basic understanding of PLCs, control systems, instrumentation, or electrical automation (training provided)
- Advantageous experience with Siemens S7, Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Schneider, or CTI automation products
- Ability to read and interpret basic technical information and specifications
Sales Competencies
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to engage confidently with technical buyers and engineers
- Proactive approach to sales development and customer outreach
- Organised, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple accounts
Minimum Requirements
- Matric / Grade 12
- Valid driver’s licence
- 1–3 years’ sales experience, preferably in technical, electrical, or industrial B2B environments
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)
