Based in Johannesburg East, the Senior Bookkeeper (Accountant) will take responsibility for maintaining accurate financial records up to balance sheet level, supporting month-end processes and ensuring strong financial control across inventory, transactions and reconciliations.

A senior, hands-on accounting role where your experience is valued, your input matters, and your work underpins a large-scale manufacturing operation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain financial records up to balance sheet
• Manage general ledger maintenance and reconciliations
• Process and reconcile accounts receivable and payable
• Prepare and reconcile bank payments and bank accounts
• Process foreign exchange transactions
• Reconcile credit cards and expense claims
• Prepare monthly journals and adjustments
• Maintain the fixed asset register
• Support month-end and year-end close processes
• Manage inventory control systems and processes
• Oversee quotations, orders, invoicing and stock preparation
• Plan and manage stock takes

Job Experience & Skills Required:

• Completed Matric (Grade 12)
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting or Finance
• 15+ years experience in an accounting / bookkeeping role (essential)
• Experience within manufacturing or high-volume environments advantageous
• Strong exposure to foreign currency transactions
• Working knowledge of Sage or Pastel Evolution (preferred)
• Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel
• Strong reconciliation and problem-solving skills
• Highly organised and deadline-driven
• Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Collaborative team player with a hands-on approach
