About the Role

The Hiring House is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Engineer to lead our transmission substation design and supply scope packages. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for determining project costs, managing full scope electrical designs, and ensuring timely delivery on budget and specification. With at least 8 years of experience in procurement of electrical plant and equipment for large infrastructure projects, this role requires a deep understanding of electrical transmission design practices and substation construction and installation.

Key Responsibilities

Determine project costs, including materials, labor, and other expenses
Plan, direct, and manage full scope of electrical design and supply scope packages
Manage and drive key design and supply activities with suppliers
Delegate tasks to a multi-disciplinary project team and manage to ensure work is completed on time
Ensure Supplier’s deliverables are completed sequentially and in accordance with the contract and project’s key delivery dates
Pursue opportunities for design optimization/value engineering
Communicate outputs and guide action based on identification of impacts on schedule, quality, and cost
Resolve issues or delays, reduce risk of delays and cost overruns

Requirements

BSc/BEng/BTech in Electrical Engineering
Professionally registered with ECSA (PrEng or PrTech) or eligible for professional registration
At least 8 years of experience in procurement of electrical plant and equipment for large infrastructure projects
Sound experience in Electrical Transmission Design Practices
Substation construction and installation experience
HV and EHV design/transmission design experience

Qualifications

Completed BSc/BEng/BTech degree in Electrical Engineering
Professionally registered with ECSA (PrEng or PrTech)
