About the Role
The Hiring House is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Engineer to lead our transmission substation design and supply scope packages. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for determining project costs, managing full scope electrical designs, and ensuring timely delivery on budget and specification. With at least 8 years of experience in procurement of electrical plant and equipment for large infrastructure projects, this role requires a deep understanding of electrical transmission design practices and substation construction and installation.
Key Responsibilities
- Determine project costs, including materials, labor, and other expenses
- Plan, direct, and manage full scope of electrical design and supply scope packages
- Manage and drive key design and supply activities with suppliers
- Delegate tasks to a multi-disciplinary project team and manage to ensure work is completed on time
- Ensure Supplier’s deliverables are completed sequentially and in accordance with the contract and project’s key delivery dates
- Pursue opportunities for design optimization/value engineering
- Communicate outputs and guide action based on identification of impacts on schedule, quality, and cost
- Resolve issues or delays, reduce risk of delays and cost overruns
Requirements
- BSc/BEng/BTech in Electrical Engineering
- Professionally registered with ECSA (PrEng or PrTech) or eligible for professional registration
- At least 8 years of experience in procurement of electrical plant and equipment for large infrastructure projects
- Sound experience in Electrical Transmission Design Practices
- Substation construction and installation experience
- HV and EHV design/transmission design experience
Qualifications
- Completed BSc/BEng/BTech degree in Electrical Engineering
- Professionally registered with ECSA (PrEng or PrTech)
