- Non-negotiable is knowing how to weld Mig, Stig and Tig.
Core Competencies
Technical Skills:
- Interpret engineering drawings and welding symbols.
- Perform MIG, TIG, Arc/Stick, and other welding processes independently.
- Execute welds to meet dimensional and strength requirements.
- Perform welding on various materials (mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium, etc.).
- Conduct post-weld finishing, grinding, and visual checks.
- Maintain and calibrate welding equipment.
Quality:
- Ensure welds comply with specifications and quality standards.
- Conduct visual inspections and non-destructive testing (if certified). If not, request inspections to be done.
- Document weld quality and maintain traceability where required.
Safety:
- Ensure compliance with ISO 45001 safety standards and company policies.
- Use correct PPE (welding helmet, gloves, protective clothing, safety boots).
- Follow safe practices for handling gases, cylinders, and welding equipment.
- Ensure welding areas are properly ventilated and fire-safe.
Leadership & Soft Skills
- Guide and support semi-skilled welders.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and colleagues.
- Work independently with accountability for quality and deadlines.
- Demonstrate professionalism and high attention to detail.
