The Assistant EAR is responsible for supporting the EAR in the organization and coordination and the on-site supervision of the execution of civil works projects. The Assistant EAR assists with ensuring that the projects are executed in accordance with approved designs and specifications related to the works under construction. The Assistant EAR has a supporting role in technical issues depending on the needs of the client. AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY . Contract Administration Assist with upholding the spirit and letter of the contract. Assist with keeping and opening comprehensive correspondence files. Assist with keeping record of all site activities. Assist with keeping monthly progress reports. Assist with keeping a register of drawings prepared on site. Assist with keeping of the site instruction book. Assist with measuring/calculating quantities. Ensure understanding of the design principles of all aspects of the works. Quality/Safety Management Ensure that all work is carried out correctly and safely. Comply with and embrace Health and Safety requirements on the construction. Assist with checks to ensure the accuracy of the Contractors setting out. Assist with the testing of all materials on site to verify quality. Bring to the attention of the EAR any apparent omissions or anomalies found in the construction drawings/contract documents. Relationship Management Contribute to the keeping of an effective channel of communication between the EAR and the Contractor is maintained. Promote relationships with the Client and the Contractor. Ensure that all verbal instructions are confirmed in writing. Contribute to the site meetings and assist with keeping accurate records of such meetings. EDUCATION, LANGUAGE & QUALIFICATIONS B. Tech degree or National Diploma (Technician) Professional Registration with ECSA as Candidate will be advantageous. Excellent communication and management skills. ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE A strong technical background of 5 years Municipal Infrastructure experience. Road-building materials or Geotechnical lab work experience will be advantageous. Project management and leadership skills. A sound knowledge of the fundamental requirements of the discipline, and the basic requirements of other disciplines. A sound knowledge of applicable local and international standards and statutory and regulatory requirements.
