Job Summary
Job Purpose:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Financial Assistant with a BCom degree and solid bookkeeping experience to support our finance team in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience using financial software such as Xero or SimplePay, and a strong working knowledge of VAT, payroll, income tax, and Efiling.
Key
Responsibilities:

Assist in daily bookkeeping functions including capturing and reconciling financial transactions.

Manage accounts payable and receivable processes.
-
Prepare and process invoices, quotes, and journals.
-
Maintain and reconcile bank and cashbook records.
-
Prepare and submit VAT returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with SARS.

Perform payroll processing using systems such as SimplePay or Xero Payroll.

Administer commission calculations and ensure timely and accurate payments.

Assist in the preparation and submission of income tax returns via Efiling.

Manage monthly financial emigrations and reporting processes.

Support with year-end audits and financial reporting requirements.

Liaise with external accountants and auditors when required.

Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures.
Minimum
Requirements:

BCom Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Essential).

Minimum 2-3 years` bookkeeping or financial assistant experience.

Proficient in Xero, SimplePay, or similar cloud-based accounting/payroll systems.

Knowledge of South African tax regulations, VAT, Efiling, and payroll legislation.

Solid understanding of financial statements and journal entries.

Advanced Excel skills and general computer literacy.
