Job Summary
Forklift Driver Supply Chain Job Purpose To ensure effective customer service through the efficient and accurate loading and offloading of trucks in the warehouse, maintaining high standards of safety, inventory management, and quality control. This role contributes to the companys objectives by optimizing forklift operations to support reliability, responsiveness, and cost-efficiency. Key Accountabilities and Outputs Health, Safety, and Environment Adhere to maximum safe pallet stacking heights to ensure warehouse safety. Follow site safety standards and participate as a key member of the Safety, Health, and Environmental Committee. Operate forklifts safely and in compliance with the OSH Act, ensuring the safety of all employees, contractors, and visitors. Support a safe working environment by complying with all relevant legislationand safety protocols. Effective Stock Quality Management Maintain warehouse stock age standards by applying proper stock rotation principles. Perform quality checks on packaging on the warehouse floor and prior to loading to ensure compliance with quality standards. Ensure pallets are handled with care to prevent damage during loading andoffloading. Effective Inventory Management Participate in the handover process before and after each shift to ensure continuity and accuracy. Conduct accurate stock counts as needed and report any discrepancies to the Warehouse Supervisor. Maintain clear communication with the Stock Clerk, Warehouse Controller, and Warehouse Supervisor to support efficient operations. Routine Responsibilities Efficiently and accurately load and offload trucks within the standard turnaround times. Interpret and act on documentation for the picking and loading of orders. Perform basic maintenance of forklifts and ensure all equipment is operated within manufacturer specifications. Locate, stack, and pack stock in designated areas, ensuring inventory is organized and accessible. Assist with order picking as needed and contribute to site housekeeping by following the 5S philosophy. Accurately complete all required documentation and ensure compliance with business policies and procedures. Adherence to Food Safety Requirements Commit to The Beverage Companys Food Safety policy and objectives. Implement all food safety requirements, including adherence to PPE and personal hygiene standards. Engage in food safety training and ensure regular hand washing and sanitizing. Prevent cross-contamination and report any food safety risks or illnesses to the relevant personnel. Support the maintenance of high standards of housekeeping and hygiene in the warehouse. Promote and uphold the companys food safety culture, contributing to the retention of GFSI certification. Qualifications and Experience Grade 12 / Matric / NQF level 4 (Essential) Valid Forklift License (Essential) Up to 3 years of experience in FMCG or a similar operational execution role Key Qualities Communication Routine communication with team members to ensure smooth operations and clear understanding of tasks. Problem Solving Proactively identify and resolve operational issues, escalating complex problems when necessary with appropriate information. Analytical Thinking Break down complex tasks into manageable parts and consider multiple solutions to problems. Make informed decisions based on a thorough analysis of relevant information. Continuous Improvement Seek opportunities for improvement in forklift operations and related processes. Adapt quickly to new ideas and best practices to enhance performance. Decision Making Organize and analyze information to make informed and timely decisions. Anticipate potential consequences and develop alternative solutions. Planning and Organising Manage time effectively to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks to ensure efficiency in operations. Evaluate progress and adjust plans as necessary to achieve successful outcomes.
