Johannesburg: Business Unit Manager – Rubber Raw Materials

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Business Unit Manager to lead our rubber raw materials business in Johannesburg. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying growth opportunities, managing product portfolios, and driving sales within the rubber and related manufacturing market. With a strong technical expertise, market insight, and commercial acumen, you will support customers, expand the business, and maintain our competitive position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify growth opportunities in the rubber raw materials market
  • Manage product portfolios to ensure optimal performance and customer satisfaction
  • Drive sales within the automotive, tyre, and industrial rubber manufacturing markets
  • Supply specialty carbon black grades to the industry
  • Develop new business and manage key accounts on a national basis for the company
  • Implement key account plans and strategies to ensure sales targets and objectives are met or exceeded
  • Manage and deliver on technical queries with regards to existing and new products
  • Monitor market developments to identify and assess potential new customers and opportunities
  • Implement volumes and pricing objectives agreed with key account customers and evaluate technical requirements of specific customers

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in chemistry, rubber, polymer sciences, or related fields (preferred but not essential)
  • Previous experience working within the rubber manufacturing or related chemical industry (preferred)
  • Experience working with specialty carbon black, fillers, or reinforcing agents (preferred)
  • Experience supplying into automotive, tyre, and industrial rubber manufacturing markets (preferred)
  • Understanding of rubber raw materials including various rubber grades (preferred)
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office suite applications and CRM software

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, rubber, polymer sciences, or related fields (Matric is not required)
