Johannesburg: Mechanical Pump Design Engineer

As a Mechanical Pump Design Engineer , you will be responsible for the design, development, and optimization of centrifugal and positive displacement pumps. You’ll play a key role in product innovation, working closely with cross-functional teams to bring high-performance, reliable pump systems to market. Key Responsibilities Design and develop pump components and systems using CAD (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar). Perform detailed engineering calculations, including fluid dynamics, stress analysis, and thermal evaluations. Create and manage detailed technical drawings and specifications. Collaborate with manufacturing, testing, and procurement teams during product development. Conduct prototype testing and analyze performance data. Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., API, ANSI, ISO). Participate in design reviews and support continuous improvement initiatives. Requirements Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (Masters preferred). Experience in pump design or rotating equipment. Proficient in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, or equivalent). Strong understanding of fluid mechanics and mechanical design principles. Familiarity with FEA, CFD, and engineering simulation tools. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
