About the Role
We are seeking a talented Multimedia Journalist to join our team at Daily Sun, a leading media company in South Africa. As a Multimedia Journalist, you will be responsible for creating engaging content across various platforms, researching and developing news and feature ideas, and working closely with our News Editor to deliver high-quality content on time. You will have the opportunity to work independently and as part of a team, covering a wide range of topics that interest our audience.
Key Responsibilities
- Create multimedia content for Daily Sun’s online platform
- Research and develop own news and feature ideas
- Supplement written content with mobile video, pictures, and audio interviews
- Deliver target market-focused content daily to set deadlines
- Attend daily news meetings
- Regularly produce piece-to-camera content
- Regularly be in studio for on-camera explainers
- Conceptualise and produce one multi-media feature content every month
Requirements
- Excellent writing skills
- Sound news judgment and attention to detail
- Ability to maintain a strong network of contacts
- Knowledge of mobile video and audio recording
- The ability to take high-quality pictures
- Creativity and a sense of humour
- Understanding of South African media law, ethics, and the Press Code
- Ability to work independently to a high degree of accuracy
- Minimum requirements:
- Relevant diploma or degree in journalism or similar
- Drivers license
- At least 2 years experience as a journalist
- Some experience with shooting video or recording audio
Qualifications
- Relevant diploma or degree in journalism or similar
- Completed degree within the past two years (if applicable)
