About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Model Validation Lead to join our team in Johannesburg North. As a key member of our Risk Management department, you will be responsible for leading independent validations of models, including credit risk, operational optimisation, financial crime, and marketing campaigns. You will ensure robust model governance and risk management processes are in place, design and implement challenger models using advanced machine learning techniques, and provide subject matter expertise and oversight on technical reviews of models.

Requirements
- Minimum 6+ years of experience in model development and validation within Data Science
- Strong technical expertise in tree-based methods, neural networks, clustering, anomaly detection, and advanced ML techniques
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and emerging technologies such as large language models
- Ability to design and deliver end-to-end ML projects independently
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Qualifications
- Honours Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or Data Science
- Preferred: Master’s degree in mathematics, Statistics, or Data Science
