If you’re ready to lead road safety audits and play a critical role in ensuring safer infrastructure projects across Africa, this exciting opportunity is for you About the Role A leading multi-disciplinary engineering and consultancy firm is seeking a highly experienced Road Safety Audit Team Leader to join their team in Johannesburg , with project work across various sites. In this role, you’ll take the lead in road safety audits, feasibility studies, and project implementation strategies for civil infrastructure projects. As a Road Safety Audit Team Leader , you’ll provide expert technical input in assessing road safety, identifying potential hazards, and recommending improvements to ensure compliance with safety standards and best practices. Responsibilities:

Road Safety Audits & Risk Identification: Conduct comprehensive road safety audits and assessments to identify potential hazards and propose corrective actions to enhance safety. Feasibility Studies & Hazard Analysis: Perform detailed feasibility studies to assess the safety implications of civil infrastructure projects and ensure hazard mitigation strategies are implemented. Supervision & Monitoring: Oversee site supervision to ensure that road safety measures are adhered to during construction and post-construction phases. Design & Project Implementation: Provide input in the design and execution of road safety improvements within infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Contract Management & Compliance: Manage contracts related to safety audits and ensure adherence to frameworks such as FIDIC, GCC, JBCC, and NEC3 . Client Interface & Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with clients, municipalities, and other stakeholders to provide expert advice on road safety matters. Budget & Cost Management: Monitor project costs and ensure that road safety improvements are implemented within budgetary constraints. Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance: Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards and regulations throughout all project phases. Technical Documentation & Reporting: Prepare and present high-quality technical reports on audit findings, hazard identification, and proposed improvements. Minimum

Requirements:

Qualifications: Professional Engineering Registration ( Pr Eng/Pr Tech ). Registered with ECSA (Engineering Council of South Africa) or any other international body recognized by ECSA (Washington Accord, Dublin Accord, Sydney Accord). Registered with Environmental Assessment Practitioners of South Africa (EAPASA) or equivalent. Experience & Skills: Minimum 10 years’ relevant experience in road safety audits, infrastructure development, and civil engineering projects. Completion of at least two road safety audits within the last three years , with a minimum of 5 CPD credits in road safety courses. Strong knowledge of the design, supervision, and implementation of civil infrastructure projects, particularly related to roads and stormwater. Proven experience in contract management , including frameworks such as FIDIC, GCC, JBCC, and NEC3 . Exposure to client interfacing, project planning, and financial controls . Proficiency in design and project management software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MS Project . Exceptional conflict resolution, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to prepare high-quality technical reports. Added Advantage: Experience dealing with National Roads Services . Knowledge of municipal infrastructure funding models . Successful experience in proposal writing, marketing, and public presentations .
