Johannesburg: Sales Consultant (External) – Technical Raw Materials (Food Sector)

Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and results-driven External Sales Consultant to join a technically focused sales environment within the food and chemical raw materials sector . This role is ideal for a self-starter with strong technical aptitude, a hunter mindset, and a passion for solution-driven, face-to-face sales. Key Result Areas External sales and marketing activities Customer service and account management Key Responsibilities Build and maintain strong professional relationships with customers, suppliers, vendors, and business partners Grow and manage existing customer accounts Identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities through active prospecting Compile accurate sales reports, costings, pricing, and market intelligence Assist with the development of annual sales budgets in conjunction with the Sales Manager Provide technical support during lab-scale testing and production trials Conduct regular site visits and face-to-face customer meetings Deliver a high standard of customer engagement and after-sales service Knowledge & Qualifications Grade 12 / Matric Formal qualification or training in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry, or a related technical field Sales and/or marketing training (advantageous) Strong financial and business acumen Bilingual in English and Afrikaans Experience 15 years experience in external sales , preferably within food, chemical, or industrial raw materials Proven track record of achieving or exceeding sales targets Experience selling tangible, technical products Skilled in new business development and servicing existing customers Comfortable with site visits and face-to-face customer engagement Technical & Professional Skills Technical sales experience within the food or chemical industry Strong technical aptitude and ability to understand product applications Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong planning, organisational skills, and attention to detail High level of accuracy and professionalism Ability to build and maintain long-term customer relationships Own reliable transport is essential Behavioural Competencies Organised, logical, and detail-oriented Assertive, confident, and resilient Self-motivated with strong time management skills Strong problem-solving ability Team-oriented with a collaborative mindset Remuneration R30 000 CTC per month , dependent on skills and experience Package includes basic salary and medical aid (Discovery) How to Apply To apply, please email your updated CV in Word format , together with copies of your qualification(s), ID, drivers license, reference letters or contactable referees , and a recent profile picture to:
