Johannesburg: Senior Bookkeeper (Accountant)

We are looking for a knowledgeable and detail-driven Senior Bookkeeper to take ownership of day-to-day financial processing and support the finance function within a busy manufacturing environment. This role suits someone who is accurate, organised, and confident working with high-volume transactions and complex reconciliations. Key Responsibilities Maintain and manage the general ledger, ensuring accurate and timeous posting Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations (bank, creditors, debtors, inventory, etc.) Process invoices, payments, journals, accruals, and prepayments Assist with preparation of month-end and year-end financial packs Support the Finance Manager with analysis, reporting, and audit requirements Monitor financial compliance, internal controls, and data accuracy Manage supplier and customer accounts, follow up on queries, and resolve discrepancies Ensure correct capturing and alignment of financial data within SYSPRO Requirements BCom Accounting/Finance (preferred) or relevant bookkeeping qualification 56 years experience in a similar senior bookkeeping role Manufacturing or engineering industry experience highly advantageous Strong proficiency in SYSPRO and advanced Excel skills Solid understanding of accounting principles and reconciliations High accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to work to deadlines Competencies Strong organisational and problem-solving ability Ability to work independently and within a small finance team Professional communication and stakeholder engagement skills Proactive, reliable, and committed to maintaining financial integrity
