Johannesburg: Senior Java Back-End Engineer

Job Description

Key Responsibilities: Design, implement, and maintain back-end services and APIs using Java (Spring Boot / Micronaut / Quarkus). Architect scalable, secure, and maintainable systems for cloud-based environments. Collaborate with Product Managers, Front-End Engineers, and DevOps teams to deliver high-quality software. Optimize applications for performance, reliability, and fault tolerance. Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives. Mentor Junior Developers and help raise the overall technical bar of the team. Job Experience and Key Requirements: 5 years of experience in back-end software development, primarily using Java. Strong knowledge of Spring Boot and modern Java frameworks. Deep understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices, and distributed systems. Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB). Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization tools (Docker and Kubernetes). Solid understanding of software design principles, testing, and CI/CD practices. Excellent problem-solving skills and a collaborative, proactive mindset.
