Job Summary
Johannesburg – Gauteng – South Africa
- Develop and maintain client-facing guides (user manuals, FAQs, best practices) while ensuring key intellectual property is protected.
- Design and maintain internal documentation repositories to support technical teams.
- Create structured developer onboarding materials, including coding standards and system architecture overviews.
- Establish and manage a documentation strategy to ensure content is scalable, searchable and easy to update.
- Work closely with developers, product managers and technicians to gather and refine content.
- Translate complex technical concepts into simple, actionable documentation.
- Implement feedback loops with clients and internal teams to improve documentation usability.
- If experienced, produce video tutorials and internal training content to complement written materials.
- Support interactive learning materials to improve engagement.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in technical writing, with a strong portfolio demonstrating structured, audience-focused documentation.
- Strong ability to structure, simplify and format content for different audiences.
- Experience working with software documentation, particularly mobile, desktop or cloud applications.
- Familiarity with structured documentation systems (e.g., Confluence, Markdown or Docusaurus).
- Strong communication and interviewing skills to extract technical knowledge from developers.
- Understanding of information design principles for usability and readability.
- Experience with video-based training content creation (e.g., screen recordings, tutorials).
- Knowledge of single-sourcing techniques to manage content efficiently across multiple formats.
- Familiarity with usability testing for documentation and feedback-driven improvements.
