Afrikaans an advantagePerformance management of subordinates i.e. strong supervisory skillsAbility to identify training needs & deal with employees admin for e.g. clock cards/overtime sheets, IR, absenteeismInterpersonal skills (interact with other departments)Ability to plan foundry production and allocate work and meet production targetsAttention to detail especially with respect to backlog etc. and ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlinesComputer Literate and proficient in Excel and Word as well as excellent numerical skillsSUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:Moulding ActivitiesEnsure production programs prepared and actioned as per production plan and backlog reportManage throughput through foundry to achieve production targetsEnsure necessary equipment and materials are available to maintain production outputLiaise with Melting & Production Supervision when metal is required to fulfil casting targets Participate in scrap meetings, investigate root cause and define corrective actionReview foundry practices and recommend improvements to Foundry ManagerEnsure pattern equipment reported to Pattern Shop Foreman & that patterns checked before use and used correctlyAssist with preparing moulds where the need arisesEnsure waste sand removed from foundry to waste area. Liaise with Stores & Facilities Manager for sand disposalLiaise with Planning Department in terms of due dates for new ordersReview moulding methods and recommend changes to Foundry ManagerManage trial castings scheduled as per backlog reportEnsure required preventative maintenance checks performed by Foundry personnel & Maintenance DeptReport breakdowns to Maintenance Department using maintenance work ordersMeltingSupervise Melting activities and ensure sufficient resources are available (equipment, people etc.)Liaise with Melting Supervisors on metal properties and tapping temperatures required to accommodate casting designs in accordance with QMS proceduresAssist with relining and sintering of furnaces when requiredCastingEnsure moulds ready for casting as planned & liaise with Melting & Foundry C/Hand & establish casting sequenceGrindingSupervise Grinding to ensure effective casting processing for delivery and ensure sufficient resources are availablePattern MakingSupervise activities in the Pattern Shop and ensure patterns are available for production purposesEnsure pattern register is maintained by Pattern Controller as per QMS proceduresPlan activities in Pattern Shop based on targets to ensure patterns available and that they are maintained & stored properlyAssist with inspection/manufacturing of patterns in case of lack of resources or complex productsOther DutiesPerform any other duties within reason as requested by Line Manager and work shifts and overtime as requiredEnsure process controls as defined in SHEQ procedures as well as other SHEQ procedures are implemented and maintainedSupervisionPerformance manage subordinates and monitor work attendance and effective utilisation of HR & equipmentIdentify training needs of subordinates, conduct training/arrange for such training and conduct competency evaluationsEnsure Employees are wearing required PPE and report incidents to SHE Officer and investigate incidents Work in accordance with SHEQ & HR Procedures applicable to job & ensure records retained as per SHEQ/HR proceduresAct as Foundry Manager or stand in for Line Management in absence of these employeesFemale Applicants are encouraged to apply.
