Job Summary
Kendrick Recruitment is seeking a Pastry Sous Chef for a luxury private wildlife reserve in the Kalahari. This is a unique opportunity for a creative and detail-oriented culinary professional to join an elite team dedicated to delivering world-class hospitality in a remote and breathtaking environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Support the Head Pastry Chef in the day-to-day operations of the pastry kitchen
-
Prepare and present high-quality pastries, breads, desserts, and baked goods
-
Assist in menu development with a focus on creativity, guest satisfaction, and seasonal ingredients
-
Maintain impeccable hygiene and cleanliness standards in the pastry kitchen
-
Oversee stock control, ingredient sourcing, and kitchen organization
-
Ensure consistency, quality, and artistic presentation across all pastry offerings
-
Provide training and mentorship to junior kitchen staff as needed
-
Work collaboratively with the culinary team to deliver seamless and memorable dining experiences

Uphold sustainability practices and minimize waste wherever possible
Requirements:

Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a pastry kitchen, preferably in a luxury lodge, hotel, or fine dining establishment

Formal culinary or pastry qualifications preferred

Strong knowledge of pastry techniques, trends, and presentation styles
-
Ability to thrive in a remote, fast-paced, and high-standard environment

Excellent attention to detail and creativity in plating and flavor profiles

Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset

Passion for the hospitality industry and commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences

Willingness to relocate and live on-site in a remote wilderness setting
