About the Role
Matjiesfontein Village is seeking a skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our team in the heart of the Karoo. As a key leadership role in our kitchen, you will play a vital part in ensuring exceptional food quality and service to our guests.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef with daily kitchen management
- Supervise, train, and mentor kitchen staff
- Oversee food preparation and presentation to hotel standards
- Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations
- Assist with menu planning, stock control, stock taking, and ordering
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, workflow, and efficiency
Requirements
- Formal culinary qualification (NQF Level 45 / Professional Cookery or equivalent)
- Minimum 35 years experience in a professional kitchen
- At least 2 years in a senior / supervisory role, preferably as Chef de Partie or Junior Sous Chef
- Strong understanding of food costing, portion control, and stock management
Qualifications
- Formal culinary qualification (NQF Level 45 / Professional Cookery or equivalent)
