We are looking for An “out-of-the-box thinker” who can easily spot and identify flaws and create solutions to improve designs. A top-class packaging designer should be able to analyze market trends and create product packaging that is both eye catching and functional. Someone with a creative flair and a strong ability to collaborate with multiple role-players. The ideal candidate should be able to take direction from written or spoken ideas and convert them into designs (using illustrations, logos, lay-outs and photos) for online advertising, marketing, product catalogues, packaging and many more.

Job

Responsibilities:

– Collaborate, brainstorm and strategize with management, marketing and sales on a wide range of materials that may include packaging, web designs, presentations, collateral, catalogues, signage, branding, and marketing materials.
– Study design briefs and determine the requirement to prepare rough drafts to be presented and edited after feedback.
– Translate strategic direction into high-quality design within an established brand identity.
– Use trend intelligence and an understanding of the current and historical business and our market to design and execute effective visual content.

Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in industrial design, graphic design, art, or a similar field will be advantageous.
– Minimum 2 – 3 years’ experience working in retail as a Packaging Designer/Graphic Designer.
– Digital photography & imaging knowledge.
– Advanced computer literacy.
– Adobe, Microsoft Suite and CorelDRAW Graphics Suite and related design programs.

Skills and experience:
Natural talent for design & style and a keen eye for detail.
– Power tool & accessory product background is an advantage.
– Proficiency with the required software applications and programs including Photoshop, Corel draw, and Illustrator.
– Effective time and project management skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
– Understanding of marketing, new product packaging design, corporate & brand identity, multimedia advertising and copy-
writing.
– Ability to verbally translate and effectively communicate your creative ideas and concepts.
– Good listening skills.
– Photo editing skills, photo shoot planning & photography.
– Valid driver’s license and own transport.
– Ideally resides around Midrand or Centurion area.
– A portfolio of your work will also be requested.
